Freely We Receive, Freely We Give: A Conversation with Gina Raynow
Discovering ancient wisdom in modern times isn't just about nostalgia—it's about reclaiming practical health knowledge that's rapidly disappearing from our digitally dominated world. Meet Gina Raynow, a passionate advocate whose ministry, Instruments of Health, is built on the powerful principle: "freely we receive, so freely we give."
What sets Gina apart is her comprehensive approach to health education. She doesn't just teach plant-based cooking—she empowers people to infuse vibrant flavors into budget-friendly meals that make "your body dance when you eat." Her expertise spans from wild harvesting and dehydration to practical gardening techniques that work with nature rather than against it. These aren't trendy new health hacks but ancestral wisdom passed down through generations, starting with Gina's grandmother.
The conversation takes a fascinating turn when Gina reveals insights about Blue Zones—seven global locations where people routinely live beyond 100 years. Surprisingly, only one exists in the United States (Loma Linda, California, among the Seventh-day Adventist community). These centenarians don't rely on expensive anti-aging products or miracle pills. Their longevity secrets lie in community connection, eating from the land, regular movement, family bonds, and significant time in nature. As Gina eloquently points out, natural health solutions are already "in your cupboards, in your garden, your grocery store"—accessible to everyone willing to learn.

And we want to empower people to go into their communities, to strengthen their communities, to empower other communities. Welcome, welcome back to another episode of Experience. An Amazing Transformation, guys.
Speaker 2:We are still at the cookout and we have beautiful Miss Gina. She has some, oh my God, phenomenal energy and wisdom about what she believes in. So, without further ado, welcome, so tell the people who you are and what you represent right now.
Speaker 1:So my name is Gina Ray now and I am instruments of health ministry. It's really an in-depth thing, take your time. So our ministry belief is freely we receive, so freely we give and we want to empower people to go into their communities, to strengthen their communities, to empower other communities. So this is not just about what we do. It's about educating you and others so that you can keep educating other people. That's great, yeah, so this is totally outside of us.
Speaker 2:Wow. So how does that actually work? What do you do?
Speaker 1:So I come in, say you want cooking classes, plant-based cooking classes? Okay, I can come into your home, to your group, church, community center, and I'll put on a program. The program will be informative, showing you why disease, how to take care of diseases, how to cook for your kids, how to cook on a budget, how to cook healthy on a budget, but also how to infuse flavor color. I mean you want your body to dance when you eat. You want like excitement to come out and you want to have energy after you eat. So that would be one example.
Speaker 1:Say, you've got a homeschooling group, yeah, and you're doing a homeschooling program. Maybe you want to learn how to cook outside, off grid. We do that Dutch oven, rocket stoves. We teach you how to bake bread, how to make good, wholesome sprouted bread. I will teach dehydration, how to wild harvest that is a huge thing for me. I even do gardening how to practical gardening and the reason I say practical is because it's affordable how to put back into the earth things that are going to give you back nutrition and health. And then also how to put in plants that are conducive for the land you're living in or the place you're at. So you're not fighting it all the time with disease and other issues.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so there's a variety.
Speaker 1:We've got a website at instrumentsofhealthorg and you can just seea whole mixture of things that we do, and I only do it because this is how I was raised and this is the thing I love, and I raised my girls the same way Because I was gonna ask you how did you get into this? A lifelong? It was passed on from my grandma to me and from her grandma and then it just fueled it and I just kept growing with the discoveries and the knowledge and the desire to share. We're in a dying age where people are not outside, they're not using their hands, they're not teaching their children something that they can pass on to help them or to grow their community, and I just kept watching that and it was killing me. So I was like Lord, use me, here I am, send me, and God's been blessing me.
Speaker 2:Here I am, that serving heart, y'all that serving heart. I've been talking about that serving heart. Wow, that's incredible.
Speaker 1:So how do you do by the? I heard you say blue zone, so what is that? So the blue zones are the seven locations on earth are the longest living people.
Speaker 2:Shut your mouth. What are you talking about?
Speaker 1:So there are some who are living beyond 100, 110, into their 20s, 120s, and it's all about how they're doing it Community, being involved in your community, eating right, eating from the land. You're talking about exercising family connections, being outside in nature, and often we're stuck inside buildings, but nature helps us grow, and so the Blue Zones when we teach the Blue Zones, we're teaching what has worked in these seven areas around the world. So one of the areas is here in Loma Linda in California with the Seventh Day Adventists. They're the only ones in theoma Linda in California with the Seventh Day Adventists. They're the only ones in the United States, who's part?
Speaker 1:of the Blue Zone, really. Yes, I happen to be a Seventh Day Adventist, so I'm part of the Blue Zone community. Wow, yes, so we get to share this message. Yay, you know. You're out there buying anti-aging stuff, right? You're out there buying pills, right. How to get slim fast, how to get rid of arthritis and all these things. And there's a natural way that is in your cupboards, in your garden, your grocery store, that will take care of all this. Wow, and it's so practical.
Speaker 2:How do one come into this type of knowledge without knowing you? Oh wow.
Speaker 1:So see, you got to Google.
Speaker 2:You can just.
Speaker 1:Google gluesos. There's a documentary on it, there are cookbooks on it. I mean we do have a lot of health messages. As a Seventh-day Adventist, this is like what our church really shares a lot of. We have got doctors trained in it, health practitioners. We've got medical missionaries. I'm a medical missionary, so we're always out in the world helping with this. But you can Google this and learn it.
Speaker 2:You can always ask somebody. I got you, I'm just asking. I'm asking for a friend, I have my daughter, wow. So what brings you fulfillment doing this? So what brings you fulfillment?
Speaker 1:doing this. Oh God, in general, god is just like the ultimate fulfillment. I mean he freely gives, for us to freely give. He empowers our every step. He says take ye and share. When you're breaking the bread and it's like you break that you share it. It was not for you to keep, unless it goes moldy. And he says to rise up and walk. So every time we learn something new that pushes away that dead self, we get to rise up and walk. We're no longer blind, we're no longer lame, we're no longer deaf, we're, no, are mute. All this empowers us now. So then we have this energy to get back, and it does help that I'm totally ADHD, which half of America is the more you eat healthy and the more you go back to a natural way.
Speaker 1:It empowers you with energy not everybody's at my height, but it empowers you and you can't help but share what you've learned. Is it contagious?
Speaker 2:Yes, I love your energy, I love your vibes. Praise God. So tell the people how they can follow you, how they can support you.
Speaker 1:Awesome. We are on the website instrumentsofhealthorg. You can find us on Facebook instrumentsofhealthministry. We find us on Facebook instrumentsofhealthministry. We're also on Instagram.
